Museums

For unresting travelers who seek more from their vacation, Sitia has many options to offer from a cultural point of view. Museums such as the Archeological Museum, opening back in 1984 for the public and displaying exhibits dating from the Neolithic era in 3.500 B.C and up to 500 A.D present great interest. These antiquities cover the wider area of Sitia.

One other very interesting Museum is the Folklore Museum with exhibits from the last century such as weavings, woodcuts, local costumes and artifacts from the daily life of the people of Sitia. A Museum which presents local traditional products with the purpose of promoting them, is the most recent acquisition of the proud inhabitants of Sitia.
